DO CLASSES RUN THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS?
Classes carry on throughout the school holidays. We usually take 2 weeks off at Christmas, 1 week off at Easter and 2 weeks in the Summer Holidays.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN MY CHILD IS READY FOR ASSESSMENTS?
All of our Ballet and Tap classes do regular Medal Assessments (we run assessment sessions at least twice a year). Our teachers will be able to provide guidance on how well your child is progressing and will always ensure they are well prepared to feel confident in performing well in their assessment.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO DO EXAMS/SHOWS?
Students do not have to take exams or do shows. However, we try and encourage them to take part and ensure that it is a positive experience for them that helps to build their confidence and to recognise the progress they are making.
What do STUDENTS need to bring to class?
Students should bring a water bottle and wear the correct SADPA uniform and dance shoes. Older ballet students may bring a pen and notebook. Little Stars can bring a small cuddly toy. Please avoid unnecessary items to keep the studio space clear and safe.
My child wants to do extra classes. What do you I DO?
All new and existing students can enjoy a free trial in any class. Existing customers can enrol in classes via Class Manager.
When does my child move up to the next class?
Students move up at different times depending on the subject. Ballet and Tap students will start the next grade of the BBODance syllabus after an Assessment. Students in all subjects continue to progress and be challenged. Students may move up depending on age and ability or graduation of older students, when agreed by the class teacher and principal.
what happens on the first day?
At your child’s first class, our teachers will welcome both of you. If your child feels unsure at first, they can watch the lesson before joining in. We generally encourage parents not to stay, as this helps children settle in more quickly, though exceptions can be made in special circumstances.
cAN I WATCH CLASSEs?
Parents are not able to watch classes as students achieve much more when they attend class independently. However, viewing weeks are held during the year, as well as many performance opportunities.
WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD IS ILL?
If your child is unwell and unable to attend class, please email info@sadpa.co.uk or write it on our dedicated Facebook Group.
